{personal} goleta butterfly grove

On New Year's Day Sean and I headed to the Goleta Butterfly Grove with his brother, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew. The grove is where thousands of monarch butterflies migrate for a few months each year. They nestle in the grove of this one wooded area and hang in clusters from the branches. According to previous visitors, the monarchs usually put on quite a magical show with thousands of butterflies hanging and fluttering all around you... This year wasn't so spectacular. But if you looked very closely, you could see clusters of butterflies hanging onto the branches! I've never seen so many butterflies in one small space, so it was still very cool to witness.
